Apple updates iOS/iPadOS 15.7.9 and macOS 12.6.9/11.7.10.

Apple has published upgrades for iOS/iPad OS 15.7.9, macOS 12.6.9, and macOS 11.7.10 for users who are still on older versions of the system. The key fixes, according to the official security log, are Security vulnerability exists in ImageIO.

Eligible Mac devices can utilise “Software Update” in “System Preferences” to update to macOS Monterey 12.6.9 and macOS Big Sur 11.7.10 upgrades; eligible iPhone and iPad devices can upgrade to iOS/iPadOS 15.7.9 by going to “Settings” > “General” > “Software Update.”

This update addresses the security vulnerability identified as CVE-2023-41064. IT House earlier revealed that NSO Group exploited this vulnerability in its Pegasus monitoring programme. Attackers exploited the aforementioned flaw to build images carrying malicious malware and distribute them via PassKit attachment distribution.

This bug fix is applicable to all iPhone 6s models, all iPhone 7 models, iPhone SE (1st generation), iPad Air 2, iPad mini (4th generation), and iPod touch (7th generation).
